How will a fuel cards help my business?

A fuel card can help your business in many ways including;

Which card?

To get the most out of your fuel card you need to choose one that fits your requirements. A smaller business with just a few trucks will probably have different needs to those of a larger organisation running a national fleet of vehicles. Onroute Fuel Cards can offer advice on which card will work best for your business.  

What is the difference is between a ‘wholesale price’ and a ‘pump price’?

A nationwide wholesale price, which is based on the trading price from the previous week, is set weekly. This fixed wholesale price is usually lower than the pump price and can therefore offer significant savings. The pump price is literally the price on the pump which includes a retail margin. This price is typically 2-5 pence per litre more than the wholesale price.*

What is Online Account Management?

Online account management gives you 24/7 access to your account details. It also allows you to request copy invoices, order new fuel cards and download fleet management reports. 

Can you invoice different depots as separate cost centres?

Yes we can. Just let us have the details for each depot and your payment requirements when you apply and we will set this up for you. 

Is the card linked to a driver or to a vehicle?

Linking a card provides a greater level of monitoring by tying fuel spend to a specific vehicle or driver. You can choose how to link your fuel cards as follows:

  • driver only
  • vehicle only
  • driver and vehicle. 

What products can I purchase with a fuel card?

This will depend on the type of card you choose. Most cards allow you to purchase a range of fuels and lubricants but you can also add the option to purchase shop goods, car wash credits and vehicle-related accessories.

Can I apply for a fuel card for personal use?

At present Onroute Fuel Cards only works with businesses. If you would like to register your interest in a fuel card for personal use, please email as we may be able to offer this service in the future.
